expressing emotion through Art.
Service Description
Our drawing and design art workshops are for children and young people. Sessions are free. Consistent, weekly sessions where you can express yourself creatively. Learn art skills and drawing techniques. Learn how to build your very own art collection, submit works to local and beyond art competitions and be involved in art exhibits. So, why is drawing good for young people? Drawing can be beneficial for youth for several reasons: Emotional expression: Drawing provides a safe and non-verbal outlet for expressing emotions and experiences. At-risk youth may face challenges in effectively communicating their feelings, and drawing allows them to express themselves creatively and release pent-up emotions. Therapeutic benefits: Art therapy has been recognized as an effective tool for promoting emotional well-being and mental health. Drawing can help at-risk youth process trauma, reduce stress and anxiety, and develop coping mechanisms. It allows them to explore their thoughts and feelings in a supportive and non-judgmental environment. Self-esteem and confidence: Creating artwork can boost self-esteem and confidence in at-risk youth. When they see their ideas take shape on paper and receive positive feedback, it validates their abilities and fosters a sense of accomplishment. This can positively impact their self-perception and motivate them to pursue other areas of personal growth. Focus and concentration: Drawing requires concentration and focus, which can be beneficial for at-risk youth who may struggle with attention difficulties or impulsive behavior. Engaging in the creative process helps develop mindfulness and the ability to concentrate on a specific task, potentially improving their overall attention span and impulse control. Skill development and goal setting: Learning and improving drawing skills provides at-risk youth with a sense of purpose and achievement. As they develop their artistic abilities, they can set goals for themselves, work towards mastering specific techniques, and witness their progress over time. This process instills discipline and perseverance, qualities that can be transferred to other aspects of their lives. Positive outlet and alternative to negative behaviors: Engaging in drawing offers at-risk youth a positive and constructive activity that can serve as an alternative to engaging in risky or negative behaviors. It occupies their time, keeps them engaged, and provides a healthy means of expression.
