Service Description

Suicide prevention psychoeducation. The suicide prevention workshop runs over a 10-week period. Week 1: Introduction and Establishing Trust Introduce the workshop's purpose, goals, and guidelines. Create a safe and non-judgmental space. Encourage participants to share their experiences and concerns. Week 2: Understanding Suicide and Mental Health. Provide education on the prevalence and impact of suicide. Discuss common risk factors and warning signs of suicidal ideation. Promote mental health awareness and destigmatization. Week 3: Building Resilience and Coping Skills Teach effective coping mechanisms and stress management techniques. Encourage healthy habits such as exercise, self-care, and positive thinking. Foster a sense of self-worth and personal empowerment. Week 4: Effective Communication and Active Listening Explore the importance of open and supportive communication. Teach active listening skills and empathetic responses. Discuss ways to engage in conversations about mental health and suicide. Week 5: Identifying Support Systems Highlight the significance of support networks. Help participants identify and utilize their existing support systems. Discuss available community resources and helplines. Week 6: Creating Safety Plans Educate participants on the concept of safety planning. Guide them through the process of developing personalized safety plans. Encourage regular reassessment and revision of safety plans. Week 7: Recognizing and Addressing Suicide Myths Address common misconceptions and myths surrounding suicide. Provide accurate information and debunk harmful beliefs. Promote understanding and empathy towards those struggling with suicidal thoughts. Week 8: Mental Health Self-Care and Self-Compassion Discuss the importance of self-care and self-compassion in maintaining mental well-being. Teach relaxation techniques and mindfulness exercises. Encourage participants to develop personalized self-care routines. Week 9: Establishing Help-Seeking Behaviors Emphasize the significance of seeking help when experiencing distress. Educate participants on available mental health services and professionals. Provide guidance on how to initiate help-seeking conversations. Week 10: Review, Resources, and Next Steps Recap the workshop's key concepts.
